Wacky Stays is a tranquil retreat offering six unique, self-contained lodging options that promise an unforgettable experience. Choose from a handcrafted colonial wagon, a charming house truck, a traditional Mongolian yurt, a cozy tipi tent, a historic train carriage, or a quaint two-bedroom farmers cottage. Each accommodation boasts a fully fenced outdoor space. The accommodations are thoughtfully furnished with meticulous attention to detail, making them the perfect setting for family adventures.
Nestled within a picturesque park, Wacky Stays is dedicated to eco-friendliness and offers guests a delightful menagerie of farm animals, including: llamas, alpacas, pigs, sheep, and chickens that lay fresh eggs for breakfast. The property offers a complimentary farm tourguests can feed the animals.
The property features LED indoor lighting, solar-powered outdoor lighting, and solar panels on outdoor kitchen shelters. The House Truck is also equipped with solar-powered lights.
Situated just 4 km from Kaikoura town centre.
For added entertainment, the mini-animal park hosts over 80 animals; also available are Llama Trekking tours. The town centre is 4 km from the property and features an array of shops, bars, and restaurants to explore.

Colonial Wagon and Sleep-out. The Colonial Wagon, farm-stay accommodation with stained wood walls and a canvas roof insulated with sheep’s wool. It includes air-conditioning and heat-pump, basic cooking facilities and a lounge seating area. There is a TV with Blu-ray player for entertainment. Bathrobes are provided. An outdoor kitchen shelter includes a pizza oven, gas barbecue, self-catering facilities and outdoor furniture. Located inside the wagon, the bathroom includes a private toilet and shower. A Wagon Sleep-out companion building provides two additional bunk beds. Sleep-out guests share the facilities of the wagon. Two breakfast options are available as a per night upgrade. ;
House Truck. This gypsy caravan was hand-crafted in New Zealand, farm-stay accommodation. On-board it has a compact fully-equipped kitchen, small seating area with flat-screen TV and DVD player, plus a toilet, separate shower,and bathrobes. The double bed is over the drivers area. Heating is provided via a wood-fired pot belly stove or electric wall heater. The outdoor kitchen includes a pizza oven, gas barbecue, self-catering facilities and outdoor furniture. Please note that the truck cannot be driven. Two breakfast options are available as a per night upgrade. ;
Yurt. Imported from Mongolia, this 7-metre Yurt, farm-stay accommodation. It ison a purpose-built, raised and insulated wooden floor. The walls and ceiling are completely insulated with thick camel hair, which means it is warm in winter and cool in the summer. An outdoor kitchen area, includes a pizza oven, gas barbecue, self-catering facilities and outdoor furniture. The yurt offers a separate private bathroom with a shower, toilet and wash basin. Two breakfast options are available as a per night upgrade. ;
Teepee. This 7-metre wide tepee, farm-stay accommodation. It ison a purpose built, raised and insulated wooden floor. The walls are waterproof poly-cotton canvas with a partially insulated second layer. It offers a separate bathroom with a shower, toilet and wash basin. An outdoor kitchen shelter includes a pizza oven, gas barbecue, self-catering facilities and outdoor furniture. Two breakfast options are available as a per night upgrade. ;
Two-Bedroom Cottage. This restored farmers cottage, farm-stay accommodation with air conditioning and heat-pump unit. It includes a fully equipped kitchen, a wood burner fireplace and a separate shower and toilet. There is parking for 3 cars and a boat. The lounge area offers two leather sofas, flat screen TV with satellite channels and a Blu-Ray player. The cottage is surrounded by a large spacious garden with an outdoor gas barbecue and seating. Two breakfast options are available as a per night upgrade. The bedrooms have additional electric radiator heating. A heat exchange system brings warm filtered air from the roofthe cottage rooms. ;
Two-Bedroom Train Carriage. This fully restored 1889 train carriage, farm-stay accommodation with a double master bedroom, and a second bedroom with 2 bunk beds. The small on-board bathroom includes an antique toilet, basin and shower. It offers ornate wooden paneling paneling throughout, an outdoor deck and an open-plan living room and kitchen with TV and DVD player. Two breakfast options are available as a per night upgrade.
